BIO
Cut and commit. Keep the first instinct. Don't edit away the personalities.
For Kris a scratch demo often contains everything a song is trying to become; the rest is mostly learning not to get in its way. They Owe Us, the artist project of musician and producer Kris Ragnstam, has never been one to chase the spotlight. Tucked away in a small, multi-purpose studio in the town of Kungälv on Sweden's west coast, it's the creation process. The writing, recording, and searching through the quiet moments between chaos and confusion.
That continues to fuel his curiosity. Over time, he's found himself inching closer to the light, close enough to center stage without ever losing his center. Whether behind the scenes or alongside others, his motivations have rarely been about prestige or recognition.
Over the past two decades in the alternative music scene, that curiosity has led him into unexpected territory. He's headlined his own tours, shared stages and studios with the likes of Debbie Harry, Telekinesis, Mumford & Sons, Zander Hawley, and, most recently, toured with kanekoayano.
Always following the songs rather than the spotlight. His mantra has remained the same: follow the songs wherever they lead, especially when the path feels uncertain.
